The Paris I Carried
“…all of this inside me as I packed my suitcase for France. I thought about it as I studied maps of Paris, read Julia Child’s memoir My Life in France, and watched countless YouTube videos about traveling in Paris, Normandy, and Provence (which were also on the itinerary). I’d switch between buying outlet converters on Amazon to racking up Duolingo points as I practiced French verb conjugations. I carried with me all of the imagination, romance, and desire I had stored inside and I prepared to meet this version of me when we landed.”
